There are several workshops and design institutes which teach the art of jewelry making in India. Earlier most families in India got their jewelries made through a trusted family goldsmith. These stones are used as embellishments of necklaces, bracelets, bangles, tiaras, earnings, anklets and other ornaments. Diamond rings are commonly created by craftsmen with special skills and expertise. The jewelry making trade in India has witnessed a tremendous growth with several brands hitting the markets. In the past jewelry was most bought as an investment. Now there is a shift in jewelry buying from investment to their use as ornaments by a large section of people. Indian jewelry is gaining much popularity and is adding sparkle to the country’s economy. At present jewelry export has become the second major foreign exchange earner in India.
